Core Beliefs
Central to our beliefs is that Jesus is the Son of God and our loving Savior.
Jesus Christ lived to teach us and He suffered and died to save us from sin and death. Because of Him, we can be forgiven, we can overcome challenges, and we can live with God again someday. We seek to follow Jesus Christ’s example.
The Book of Mormon and the Bible
The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture, like the Bible, that teaches about Jesus. It is the word of God and answers questions about life and the gospel. We also believe the Bible to be the word of God. It leads us to Jesus and shows us how to follow his perfect example.
God’s Plan for Us
We believe that we all lived as spirit children of our Father in Heaven before we were born. We come to earth where we must have faith and learn to choose between right and wrong. God knew that we would make mistakes. He chose Jesus to come to earth and offer himself as a sacrifice so that we can be forgiven and cleansed of our sins. Jesus also overcame death through his resurrection. If we follow the Savior and his commandments, we can live with God again someday.
Eternal Families
We believe that the family is ordained of God. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.
The Savior’s Church Has Been Restored
When Jesus was on the earth, He established His Church. Peter and other Church leaders were rejected and killed. Key teachings and priesthood authority were lost. After many centuries, God and Jesus called a new prophet, Joseph Smith, to restore the Church and all of its true teachings. God has always called prophets to guide His people and through the restoration of the gospel. There are prophets on earth again today.
