Easter Season Starts Today

Our stake focus in 2025 begins with a question posed by President Russell M. Nelson: “To whom or to what will I give my life?” He gives the answer: “rededicate your lives to Jesus Christ” and “regular worship in the temple will help us... focus on Jesus Christ” (Nelson, Oct 2024).
The Auburn Stake Presidency has asked us to give the Easter season the same dedication, energy, and love as we give to the Christmas season.
Today marks the beginning of the Easter Season, the start of 40 days ending on Palm Sunday, which then begins Holy Week, culminating in Easter Sunday. These 40 days represent a period of preparation for the upcoming Easter week, marked by fasting, prayer, and heartfelt traditions that focus us on our Savior Jesus Christ.
Elder Neil L. Andersen said, “We rejoice with Christians all over the world in His glorious Resurrection and in our own promised resurrection. May we prepare for His coming by rehearsing these glorious events over and over in our own minds and with those we love, and may His prayer be our prayer: ‘Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven’ (Matthew 6:10, https://bit.ly/3QMpdO9).”
In the same manner that you might start hearing Christmas music over the radio many weeks before Christmas day, the life, atonement, and resurrection of Jesus Christ also deserve our reverence and joy for the full Easter season, starting today.
This means finding family and individual Easter traditions that specifically build faith in Jesus Christ, to replace secularism and commercialism with sincere attention to our Savior and Brother, and to find Jesus in the temple.
In the coming weeks, we will share with you ideas for building Savior-focused Easter traditions and for learning more about the Atonement and Resurrection. We invite you to share even more ideas with each other.

“Despite the challenges we face in life, we can, like on that first Easter morning, awake to a new life in Christ, with new and marvelous possibilities and new realities as we turn to the Lord for hope and belonging.” —President M. Russell Ballard
