Let Christ Touch Your Life
The Bible tells of a man who was paralyzed. (See Luke Chapter 5.) The man’s friends went to great efforts to bring him to Christ for healing. Upon seeing their faith, Christ told the paralyzed man, “thy sins are forgiven thee.” Some of the people thought Christ spoke blasphemy by forgiving sins. Christ responded by saying, “Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?” Christ then told the man to “Arise.” At Christ’s command, the man “immediately” arose and departed to his own house, glorifying God. In my mind’s eye, I imagine Christ bending down to take the paralyzed man by the hand as he told him to arise. With His touch, whether real or figurative, Christ healed this man, both on the inside and on the outside.
Whoever Christ touches, he makes better--whether touching the eyes of the blind, the ears of the deaf, healing a paralytic spiritually and physically, or taking the hand of Peter as his fear and doubt caused him to sink in the sea. Through Christ’s figurative touch, He can mend relationships, lift us out of depression and despair, heal deep emotional and spiritual wounds, replace anxiety with peace, and give beauty for ashes. I have felt His touch in my own life and seen it in the lives of many others, including my family and friends. I have seen Christ’s healing and uplifting influence in the lives of Christian neighbors wherever I have lived. In fact, I have never seen anyone who was worse off because they were sincerely trying to follow the teachings of Christ. If you would like more happiness, peace, purpose, and certainty in your life, why don’t you try living the teachings of Christ? Invite Him in and let Him touch your life.
